I fell in love with dentistry at a young age of around 11 or 12 when I visited the dentist and was told I needed a filling. Feeling nervous and apprehensive of the unknown, I was greeted by lovely receptionists, a kind dental nurse and a stern - but not too scary - dentist. I remember the feeling of nervousness and anxiety slowly ebb away as the procedure got underway and by the time it had finished a seed had been planted in my mind - perhaps I too one day can help people with their dental care with the same level of understanding and empathy as my childhood dental team looked after me.
Fast forward a few years and I completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree achieving it with honours (BDS Hons) from Cardiff University in 2013. I immediately obtained my first choice placement as a foundation dentist in the lovely town of Lewes, where I still work to this day. Throughout my time at Lewes High Street Dental Practice, I myself became a trainer of foundation dentists, helping them to hone their skills and prepare them for the world of dentistry outside of the dental university environment.
During my dental career I have also worked in other practices around the south of England including in Brighton, Crawley Down and Eastbourne . Shortly after completing my Dental degree, I undertook another educational challenge, completing a Master's degree (MSc) in Primary Dental Care awarded by the university of Kent, allowing me to provide the very highest standard of care to my patients.
My most recent educational journey led me down the pathway of dental surgery and dental implants having passed the prestigious Diploma of Implant Dentistry awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons, and it is this aspect of dentistry that I love providing the most. Being able to provide patients with a confident smile through tooth replacement, be it a single tooth replacement or a full mouth rehabilitation, is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I pride myself with offering the very highest standard of care through listening to my patients, and collaboratively deciding on the best solution for each individual.
In my personal life I have a beautiful wife and young daughter with whom I love spending time, often visiting farms, garden centres and national trust sites. I have a Leonberger dog, Winnie, and together enjoy many a walk around the lovely part of the world in which we live. I often go out running with friends to stay fit and active, and any spare time I get will be leisurely reading or going out and about photographing birds.
Alison is an exceptional and highly qualified dental implant nurse who is an invaluable asset to my surgical team. Her caring and gentle manner immediately puts patients at ease, a crucial factor given the anxiety often associated with surgical procedures. She ensures patients feel comfortable and well-informed, a key part of her role in managing patient care. Alison's expertise extends to meticulous preparation of the surgical environment, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating Greg's needs, which allows the procedure to run smoothly and efficiently. Her detailed knowledge of implant procedures and aftercare instructions means she can provide clear, confident guidance to patients, contributing significantly to their successful recovery and the overall positive outcome of their treatment.
